Day 8 - Tetons and Yellowstone

Today we headed back toward Grand Tetons National Park with plans of enjoying the Rockefeller Highway up to Yellowstone NP.  We broke 10,000 miles on the Wing last night on our way up. Missed getting a picture so this will have to do.  Hard to believe this is only 29 combined days of riding since April.

This lil' gas station had the BEST breakfast burrito we've ever had.  Took all we had to share 1.  Great job Dog!!
The infamous Jackson antler arches in Jackson Square

The Elk Refuge visitor center has a rather impressive Passport stamp collection for multi-agencies

Which way do we go from here... East or West

18 feet!

Many businesses and houses had fake elk and moose sculptures in their yards to play tricks on the tourists.  Tetons NP had a moose relieving itself daring you to touch the flowers!!  lol

Some beautiful closeups for my sister.  She knows why!!

Ryan has this thing...about obeying laws and signs! lol

I was dead set on capturing a picture of the Tetons reflecting on the lake...slight problem - the water was rough and choppy.  I had to make do with some pretty cool stones and cloud reflection on Lake Jenny.

The typical motorcycle photo view of flowers!  1000's deleted per trip!!

Remembering my first horse ride at the age of 5 - here in Yellowstone.

We've both been here before; however, never together and no Passport stamps to show for it.

Lots of road work in Yellowstone. 30+ minutes the road is shutdown as they are putting down chip and seal.  You know what that means!

Absolutely right!!

Chip and seal should be illegal!

Yeah, caution....

These signs are everywhere but do dumb selfie-seeking tourists observe them? NO...ask the one who was attacked the day we were there.

A flock of ducks photo bombing this bison taking a nap

The colors and atmosphere in Yellowstone are absolutely amazing!

Yes, I took a selfie!

Old Faithful doesn't look like it did last time
I was there as a kid!!  lol

Sorry, the following video was shot of old faithful...I didn't realize that I could not rotate.  ;)

Caught the 8:40pm-ish eruption...at sunset followed by rain

These beautiful colors showed their face AFTER the eruption

Sunset leaving Yellowstone

Here is Rocky

The Moon streaking across the sky (ok, so maybe the moving motorcycle had something to do with it!!) lol
Leaving Yellowstone, we learned a very valuable lesson about our free spirited travels...travelling to one of the most visited NP in the country on what turned out to be the busiest day of the year means that you better have a hotel reservation.  We drove for over 3hrs (getting out of the West Yellowstone gate around 10pm) trying to find a place to stay because Hotwire app said every place was booked for hundreds of miles...and trying to find further away was not possible because the app will not show any availability after midnight EST regardless of what the local time is.

OR THIS ONE...

It got quite chilly at night with high winds today.  The following morning we confirmed what we felt!
