 We took off by 6:30 to get an early, cooler start.  There are a few parks near Albquerque and Grants, NM that we have never been able to hit.  We had several hours of riding through more ranch land and oil fields then we hit the red rocks. There were at least 15 open parking spots in the lot...but this guy arrived late in the evening and had to have the spot next to us. Got an early morning start...after how hot it got yesterday...we were surprised that it was only 73 and stayed cool for several hours???   A very neat site along the way...depicting Jesus' tomb with the stone rolled back.  Quite neat to see at sunrise. The sky had a distinctive line across it where the day was breaking. In front of the "Cowboys and Cowgirls" School Tatum, New Mexico is the home of iron artwork (if you needed any)     Not a National Park but Smokey plays a big part in the National Parks Quite windy today....

Day 5 - Walsenburg, CO to Vernal City, UT

Day 5 - Oct 12, 2014, Walsenburg, CO to Vernal City, UT 520 miles, 4 National Parks and 2 states (Colorado & Utah) AND 2 Bureau of Land Management sites (Petroglyphs)   Final shot of the Rockies. And my how we love the beauty of the Rockies. Headed south to the Great Sand Dunes.   Out in the absolute middle of nowhere, we came across this shrine sitting back off the road.  It looks like it is a tribute to some area Indians that have died recently.  Pretty neat all of the items left. There was a special ceremony of sorts a few years back. Great Sand Dunes were pretty spectacular!  You are travelling along surrounded by high desert and mountains; in the absolute middle of nowhere are these sand dunes! Orlando then a dose of National Wildlife Refuges

  The purpose of this trip was to attend an Accounting Conference at Disney.  Only a couple photos to share from the conference and then we were on our way to the west.  We wouldn't have known we were at Disney until the last day when they served Mickey treats - Icecream bars, pretzels and rice krispie treats...all shaped like Mickey.   Shannon was the Grand Prize winner of the TSheets raffle during the conference.  $1000!!!  That should pay for the trip west to Vegas!  TSheets is an awesome time tracking app that we recommend as a solution to our clients.  Dan and Danny are two of the wonder employees on the team.  TSheets is based in Idaho...we visited their home office a couple years ago.   Met up with my cousin Jeff who lives near Tampa. Spent a couple days with Ryan's former driver, Terry and Billie. Ryan hung out with them checking out retired life while I caught up on client call...
