Day 1 officially!
Left Sherm's at 4:30am to meet Shannon at LAS for her 7:30am arrival time.

Fresh fill-up of coffee and gas and ready to hit the road. |
First light pulling away from Sherm's house |
Lake Mead Recreation area. |
Lake Mead |
Me sneaking in to hit a park before I picked Shannon up from the airport. |
Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the way out of town |
Almost unbearable riding temps, and it went up one more degree and hit 114! |
What is worse than 114 degrees? 111 and stop and go construction! |
Finally reached the state of Utah. Shannon and I have been looking forward to
hitting these parks for a while now. |
Not to be disappointed, formations start as soon as we leave the superslab. |
As it happens sometimes, this adventure led us about 4 miles down
a pretty bad gravel road to a big goat farm, but not visitor center.
It worked out as we found the center in town after some searching. |
Formations abound in red sandstone! |
3rd National area today, but due to the heat, I wanted to keep moving and actually
forgot to stop and get the selfie! We are going back to Zion for sure! |
Our shadow keeps us company allot! |
Riding into the sunset |
We ended with a little adventure beyond the normal today because I forgot to get gas before leaving the big road. We kept driving and every place was closed until we finally found a station with the lights on. As I slid the credit card, the lights went out, fortunately he left the pump on for us to finish filling up. Lesson kids; buy gas when you can! We only had 17 miles left to go, but only 13 miles worth left. We would have ran out. Shannon said she was praying hard and glad she was!
