Sonoran VROC and Mexico

We met friends and visited Mexico while in the Yuma area.  Really nice to kick back and enjoy a couple rides.  I am amazed with the agriculture in the area.   
 
 
First day included an international trip about 10 miles away :)

Lanny doesn't drink much, so the baby Margarita was just his size, but not his taste... So I drank it.

This jewelry store gives tequila, Corona's and some fru-fru shots as you walk in the door.  They admitted that alcohol help sales, and keeps the guys happy while the wives shop.

Shannon ehjoyed the drinking much better than the prices.  No Sale from us.

Oh how they enjoy making fun of our trademarks in Mexico...  lol


These guy want to dance with you for money, and they are pretty pushy.  Not my kind of entertainment.

 We took off by 6:30 to get an early, cooler start.  There are a few parks near Albquerque and Grants, NM that we have never been able to hit.  We had several hours of riding through more ranch land and oil fields then we hit the red rocks. There were at least 15 open parking spots in the lot...but this guy arrived late in the evening and had to have the spot next to us. Got an early morning start...after how hot it got yesterday...we were surprised that it was only 73 and stayed cool for several hours???   A very neat site along the way...depicting Jesus' tomb with the stone rolled back.  Quite neat to see at sunrise. The sky had a distinctive line across it where the day was breaking. In front of the "Cowboys and Cowgirls" School Tatum, New Mexico is the home of iron artwork (if you needed any)     Not a National Park but Smokey plays a big part in the National Parks Quite windy today....

Day 5 - Walsenburg, CO to Vernal City, UT

Day 5 - Oct 12, 2014, Walsenburg, CO to Vernal City, UT 520 miles, 4 National Parks and 2 states (Colorado & Utah) AND 2 Bureau of Land Management sites (Petroglyphs)   Final shot of the Rockies. And my how we love the beauty of the Rockies. Headed south to the Great Sand Dunes.   Out in the absolute middle of nowhere, we came across this shrine sitting back off the road.  It looks like it is a tribute to some area Indians that have died recently.  Pretty neat all of the items left. There was a special ceremony of sorts a few years back. Great Sand Dunes were pretty spectacular!  You are travelling along surrounded by high desert and mountains; in the absolute middle of nowhere are these sand dunes! Iceland Day 9 (Hraunfossar, Blue Lagoon, Reykjanesbaer Peninsula)

  This was Ryan's lucky day!  He stopped in to the 66 station for a cup of coffee...and scored a free coffee!  He's drank a lot less coffee than normal on this trip - a combination of the highway robbery for a cup of Joe and his being sick.  Typically these 8-10oz cups ran from $3.50-5. -Shannon Was I happy for that coffee! -Ryan We stopped for breakfast at a bakery in Grindavik and shared a chocolate covered cinnamon roll. Maybe they forget the year with how time moves? -Ryan The first hint of an accident we saw on the entire island.  -Ryan The lagoon is a very odd whitish-blue and almost iridescent with a strong sulfur smell.  This is a very expensive place and by far a tourist trap attached to a high-end hotel  I was happy to see it and move on with out leaving any money.  We did learn about a hot river that is free, and if we ever go back, we'll hike in there and do it freestyle! -Ryan The first ...
