LA NWR Big Thickett to Galveston

2nd Day in a row that my camera was fogged up internally for the first 30+ minutes after we left the hotel. I determined it is due to the extreme temperature difference from inside the hotel and outside.  Frustrating since my camera is "weather-sealed".

I love that they call this a "Flyway"...confirms my observations since riding the Floriday Coast!

Lots of Dragonflies the past few days

The Cameron Prarie NWR visitor center had a rather unique method to tell the story of the area...replicas of older swamp folks telling the story with deep accents and floating in on her canoe.

One of the dragon flies considered hitchhiking.

First sighting of Alligator road kill.  It looked (and smelled) like his stomach was going to burst any moment.  We put up with it long enough to turn around and get a photo.

Two dolphins were in the bay when crossing into Galveston on the ferry.

Not a lot to see at Big Thicket. The area is preserved for nature hikes.  It was too hot for us to consider that.  Looked similar in photos to Congaree NP in SC.

Interesting Church

We saw a lot of these pink birds out in the bayou.  No good photos to share...light colored and 70mph do not combine too well!!

The Texas Chemier NWR visitors center had a cool way to see their video...benches laid out as if you were on an airboat.

The movie also acted as if you were riding in the airboat.

Watch out for the gator we almost ran into!!  lol

Gathering of the Pelicans

The birds were all about attention on this trip.

Ferry #4

The Pelicans always were sure to see us off and welcome us to the other side.
