Unofficial Iron Butt leaving ES - Arkansas to New Mexico

Here is our 1000 mile unofficial Iron Butt From Eureka Springs, AR to Gallup, NM.  To officially register, you have to have start and finish witnesses, which we did not plan for, so unofficial it will stay! But it is official enough for us.  I would wear the patch proudly.

Starting out at 9:36 from Eureka Springs, we took a pic of the navigation screen and not the odometer.

When Shannon realized this, she took a pic 49 miles later. When we left ES, I had no forethought of doing an Iron butt...but Shannon had other "just in case" ideas! 15,370 start

Thanks to the storms in the area, what could have been quite a non-photographic ride along 40, we was entertained by the changing clouds...and some interesting signs.

I took a photo of this grasshopper while filling up in Oklahoma

A couple miles down the road I saw he must have hitchhiked onto the windshield. Checking the photo times, he hung on for at least 39miles down the highway at 80mph. Pretty Impressive!

This butterfly was not as lucky as the grasshopper...

Neither was Ryan's shirt!

We've been to the OKC monument on other trips, so we decided to pass that day.

Something about vehicles being suspended from signs...I wonder if it really helps with sales?

An interesting display at a McDonalds announcing the buttermilk Chicken sandwich

This bird lost a foot... but he sure got around the gas station pretty well.

His ex must have got the other half of the car!!  Must be a "Chopper" - note the van/Semi-cab/hay wagon carrying the rear end of Camaro...it was hauling an 80ft trailer???  An Oklahoma thing??!

Tracks behind a horse aren't usually happy unless you are seeking fertilizer

Getting close

And here we are cracking 1000 miles, I had to slow down so Shannon could get a lowlight picture.

I'm checking yes on calling it a night in Gallup, NM

I hate the 55.1 mph pass of the 55.05 other truck.  This is what causes road rage when people ignore others and waste people's time.  I wish cops would write tickets for obstruction in these cases. I bet it looked like this for at least 5 miles.

Needed to cool my road rage

Maybe next time.

23 hrs and 59 minutes after start, 16,423 - 15,370 = 1053 miles

And it's going the wrong way!

I commented to Ryan how cool all of the colors look...

Until I realized why the beautiful hillside smelled so aweful...Don't judge a book by it's cover!

The power plant just seems so out of place among the pretty mountains and rocks

Lake Mead RVM

A sign we are back in Vegas!  Not sure how they make it over some of the bumps we hit??
