Iceland Day 8 (Photographers Playground at Diamond Beach and Jokulsarlon Lagoon with Seals, Reynisdrangar, Reynisfjara, Dyrholaey)

If you are tired of glaciers then you may want to breeze through Day 8 pretty quickly.  We drove back to Diamond Beach and Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon again today...and glad we did!  Got many sunrise pictures of Diamond Beach, surprised with the sighting of at least 6 seals playing in the water and trying to go against the strong current.  The water over at the lagoon was still and perfect for some reflection shots.  In many it is hard to tell where the glacier ends and the water starts the reflection.  Many shots are symmetrical.  It was a photographer's playground!!  After several hours here for the last time, we headed back toward Vik to catch a view of some sites we've skipped the several times back and forth.
Shannon all geared up to go catch sunrise pictures at Diamond beach. -Ryan
It was -5c to start out this morning. -Shannon

Souvenir "rocks" for my nieces.  Unfortunately, they didn't make it!

Iceberg Macro

Can you believe that these shots have not been doctored at all!  -Ryan

Some of these came out so good they just don't seem real -Ryan

Wow! Just WOW! -Ryan

BTW, it is very difficult to drive in Iceland.  The scenery is always to the right or left, never ahead where you need to be looking.  Good thing there isn't much traffic to run off the road -Ryan

He was shy and only let Shannon get a couple pics and that was it.

When coming out of a restaurant in Vik, a gal in the vehicle next to us slammed her door into our car door.  While it is a small ding, we would find out it is not considered small in Iceland. -Shannon

Uhm yeah.  That tiny thing was a $1100 euro ding! You know, that tiny little knick about the size of a trimmed pinky nail...   Welcome to overseas car rental.  Again, you can not hassle and pay about $30 extra per day insurance or pay and wait to get reimbursed by MasterCard rental insurance.  Total charges for mudflap, windshield, and door ding was $2270.68 US -Ryan

The tourists were from China and took responsibility. -Shannon
Chinese guy says that can be buffed right out!  Yeah, got a buffer?  I know I sure got the shaft!  -Ryan

Ryan snuck this shot in while gassing up one night.  This truck had the intake on the top.  -Shannon

Do we remember the name of the intake?  (Snorkel Intake) -Ryan

Reynisfjara is a very neat area. Would have spent more time checking it out if there weren't 50mph winds blowing ocean spray from one direction and snow/ice from the other.  Very interesting rock columns and other rock formations.  -Shannon

Dryholaey Arch

What's this??  Why it's another church with a red roof sitting on a snowy hillside.  They are so eye catching!  -Shannon

The aurora was nice tonight, however, we were very spoiled after day 5 and 6 so this one was just "ok".  It was also a very cold and windy night so I only took a few pictures from the car tonight. -Shannon
