Day 14 Glacier

Well, as crazy as we are, the decision to 'hit' Glacier National Park on our way back to Vegas from Mountain Home, ID was a work out for sure!  While most of the trip was really good, it rained all through Glacier, we didn't get to see any glaciers, the Going to the Sun Road was closed due to wildfires, and it got 'REALLY' cold headed back south.  So much so that we put on every dry and clean (or not) thing we had.  It was low 30's before we reached the motel folks!  We couldn't call it a night early because we had a 8am flight out of Vegas the following day.  I'm so glad we went.

On my bucket list for a long time!

The majority of our time in Glacier was in the pouring rain...I apologize that 95% of these pictures were taken through the showercap that you see in this RVM pic.  Not ideal...but we drove about 1000 miles out of the way to add Glacier into our trip. The unfortunate wild fire that closed Going to the Sun Road up into Canada had already dampened our visit...we weren't going to let the rain ruin it all together.

Glad I could see-ish through the rain splattered, and fogged-up helmet to stay on the road.

Rain brings waterfalls!

At times, visibility was minimal...between the rain, clouds and smoke from the fire.

Look at all the colors!

Awesome!

The beautiful pink wildflowers were beautiful at the high elevations

I really like the look of that bike! But not so much riding it against the snowscape... lol

The sad part of nature is that beauty sometimes requires a new start through destruction.  But some seeds can't germinate without the high heat of a fire!

Heavens Peak

The water runoff down in the streams were a translucent blue

BBQ was good, but the guy was kinda a jerk about us sharing one meal, and his dog was very vicious and locked in a car. (thank God!)  You know that I want to kill you bark when you hear it.

Couldn't leave town without trying the best Cherries and Huckleberries in the area

Hungry Horse was a cool little town. The iconic anorexic horses were everywhere

A random acre of religious billboards and crosses that included the stations of the cross and other messages

There were signs everywhere for the upcoming Testicle Festival!

Used Cows anyone??!!

Try # 20 out of 26 to get a picture of 12,000 miles ...a difficult task at 80mph with the sun going down  lol

The best shot I could get!  12,000 miles in 36 riding days since we bought it.
